For many people across January, it will have been one that stayed dry, avoiding the pub and avoiding the temptation of alcohol. While many will continue that into February and beyond.
Of course, for those wanting to avoid alcohol, or give it up for good, the pub can be problematic. But with it being one of the go-to places with friends, you may also need to think about some alternative ideas to enjoy nights out with your buddies.
Well, luckily for you, here are five alternative nights out to one spent in the pub…
A night of bowling
Bowling has become trendy again, and across the country there are plenty of alleys such as the Hollywood Bowl, while you’ll also find more adult-focused ones in the likes of Lane7 and All Star Lanes.
It may feel like a blast from the past, but you’ll soon get the hang of it and be loving bowling, as well as that competitive nature, just as much as you did when you were younger.
A night at the casino
Speaking of competitive nature, a trip to the casino has long been a popular night out for friends and with the rise of online casino games, with the likes of online casino Netherlands, UK and even US hugely popular, it’s only continuing to grow.
Almost every major town and city has a casino to pop down to, with plenty of roulette, craps, blackjack and slots. There’s something for everyone, and it can be a fantastic, communal and social experience if you play responsibly.
Start a class
We all love a bit of organised fun. Don’t we?
Either way, it can be fun to join a class together, one night a week, learning something new while catching up at the same time. It could be anything from sport to dance, art to learning a language.
What better thing to do with friends than learn Spanish once a week with your friends, and topping it off with a big trip to Spain together?
Come Dine With Us
While Come Dine With Me may not be the hit it once was, it’s still a great concept and perfect to play along to with friends. Each week a different friend can cook for the group, with everything from the food to the evening’s entertainment scored.
This then occurs until all the friendship group have hosted their friends, with a winner being crowned based upon the scores. It’s fun, and what’s more, you’ve got a good few weeks’ entertainment out of it.
A night mini-golfing
We’re finishing in a similar place to where we started, with mini-golf. These types of activities have become huge over the last few years, with the likes of axe throwing and darts also popular.
Nothing beats a bit of mini-golf though, and it’s a great way to pass time, albeit slightly frustrating time if you can’t get the ball through a windmill, and a brilliant night all round.
